I will always remember the name – Wayne Rooney

In the longest of times, there hasn’t been a Manchester United team without Wayne Rooney, but that’s about to change. Wayne Rooney came to Manchester United 13 years ago, won everything and now returns to his boyhood club – Everton. Oh what a journey! What a privilege it has been to witness absolute greatness. It is going to be super weird seeing him in blue now, but I wish nothing but the best for him. My heart sinks while writing this down, as I know I have grown up watching him, The White Pele. I want to summarize his career by just saying that if you did no see him in his prime, then you missed out on a player who was unplayable. He was the sole driving force behind the team at times and no matter his failings in the recent past, he is a legend!

The Boy Wonder

He came from land of Scousers

But came to adorn the Mancunian Red

He was always a blue and returns to be one again

After climbing the insurmountable Manchester United mountain

‘Remember the name’ they said when he burst on to the scene

He caught the eye of every big football team

Joining United at the cusp of his manhood

But still, some of his anger was misunderstood

Only a few constants remained throughout his career

His goals that he banged in

His hair that each year grew thin

The controversies that were pretty grim

And the multitudinous stories that called him a – has been

As he moves back to his childhood love

You can count on me to always say one thing

To the player who made a generation love the beautiful game
